COMMERCIAL ACCREDITATIONS

MCS (Corgi) - The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent certification scheme designed to certify microgeneration products and installers in accordance with consistent standards.

The scope of this Scheme is the supply, design, installation, set to work, commissioning and handover of the microgeneration technologies.

CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers

CONSTRUCTIONLINE - Constructionline is the Government's national register for suppliers. In the same way CHAS offers a tool for use in the health and safety element of pre-qualification, Constructionline provide the pre-qualification tool for use in financial standing, technical references and other areas. The CHAS management group supports the principles of a single register and so works jointly with Constructionline.

Following agreement by the then Department of Trade and Industry, CHAS and Constructionline formed a "mutual working agreement". This describes how we will work together to provide an improved service for buyers. You can get details of that agreement by contacting us.

Both CHAS and Constructionline have their own independence and identity but our schemes are linked.

GAS Safe - Gas Safe Register is run by Capita Gas Registration and Ancillary Services Limited, a division of the Capita Group Plc.

We make sure all 120,000 gas engineers on the register are gas safe and qualified to work with gas.

Gas Safe Register is the official gas registration body for the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey appointed by the relevant Health and Safety Authority for each area.

Gas Safe Register replaced CORGI as the gas registration body in Great Britain and Isle of Man on 1 April 2009 and Northern Ireland and Guernsey on 1 April 2010.

The HSE carried out a review of gas safety in 2006 which, after consultation with the gas industry, engineers and the public, led to the decision to change to a new gas registration scheme. The contract to run the new scheme was awarded to Capita and we launched Gas Safe Register. The sole focus of the register is on improving and maintaining gas safety to the highest standards.

BBA (Insulation) - Since 1966 BBA (Insulation) Agrément Certificates have been providing invaluable information on the performance of new construction products and materials. For only a little less time, the BBA has been running its injected cavity wall insulation approved installer scheme.

 The BBA is proud of its reputation for integrity and its absolute independence and impartiality recognised throughout the construction industry in the UK and beyond. The reputation of the BBA is also underlined by its UKAS accreditations

SAFE Contractor - SAFEcontractor is the fastest growing health and safety accreditation scheme in the UK, with more than 150 major clients and almost 18,000 contractor members.

Registered members with the SAFEcontractor scheme include clients and contractors from a wide range of professional disciplines working within a number of SAFE CONTRACTOR industry sectors.

With its increasing membership and growing profile in the UK, the SAFEcontractor scheme is now used by many large organisations as a way of obtaining competent contractors.

CIGA - CIGA is an independent agency with its own secretariat that provides independent 25 year Guarantee covering cavity wall insulation. It is governed by a council of "System Designers" (who supply the insulation material) and registered installers, with support from trade associations and Government bodies.

Before installation begins, a CIGA registered installer will carry out a pre-installation assessment to ensure that the property is suitable for Cavity Wall Insulation. The installation of the insulation will then be completed at a mutually convenient time according to stringent technical standards laid down by CIGA.

Once the work is finished and final payment has been received the installer will apply to CIGA for a Guarantee, and a certificate will be sent directly to you. The Guarantee should be kept safely, as it may need to be produced in the event of a claim or if you sell the property, since the Guarantee is also available to subsequent owners of the property.

The CIGA Guarantee covers defects in materials or workmanship, and in the event of a problem CIGA's technical department is there to help.
